2023 Licensure Bill preparation starts NOW

Hello NM Nutrition Professionals!

New Mexico will be one of the first states to update our licensure/ practice act to reflect AND Model Practice Act as well as address the MNT scope of practice for New Mexico dietitians. To get there, we need your help!

Help support our updated licensure:

  1. Arm yourself with knowledge:

    • Learn more about the New Mexico dietetics licensure bill through this video chat with Rachel Leung, Past Consumer Protection Coordinator, and Rachel Kinney, Past President of New Mexico Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

    • Learn more about types of licensure and find links to New Mexico's current licensure statute and regulations by clicking on the licensure map here.

    • Review the 2021 licensure bill (HB 147) to get an idea of what our 2023 bill may contain

  2. Write, email, and/or call your legislators to show support for our licensure bill. Learn how to find your legislator by watching this video with Rebecca Lamoreux, Public Policy Coordinator of New Mexico Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

  3. Attend legislative hearings during the 2023 legislative session to tell your story and show support for our licensure bill

  4. Donate funds to help support lobbyist fees for the upcoming legislative session

NMAND's public policy efforts help protect the legal right to use our full scope of practice. Together, we must show our legislators how important this bill is to our work serving the people of New Mexico.

Thank you!
