Volunteers needed for NM Special Olympics Summer Games

Special Olympics New Mexico (SONM) is recruiting volunteers for an upcoming health screening event in Albuquerque. Contribute your time & skills to the movement and help change the lives of people with intellectual disabilities in your community through the Healthy Athletes, Health Promotion Program.

Help is needed on Friday May 31 (3—6 pm) &/or Saturday June 1 (9:45 am—2 pm) at the 2019 State Summer Games — the largest statewide competition held by SONM.

Health Promotion provides athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to take charge of their own health in the fun atmosphere of SONM’s Olympic Village. The Health Promotion booth offers screenings (blood pressure, height & weight) to identify health challenges that may need additional intervention, along with interactive educational activities in nutrition, bone health, sun safety, tobacco avoidance, hygiene and physical activity.
